Douglas Mott: CEO, RepairClinic.com

Douglas Mott is President of RepairClinic.com, and brings more than 25 years of savvy experience in online and offline sales and engaged digital marketing.

Results-driven and highly motivated, Douglas has extensive experience in retail and merchandising from his time with Costco, drugstore.com, and ThinkGeek.  Douglas spent 13 years at drugstore.com, from its early years when it was just a $25 million per year company, through to the acquisition by Walgreens for an equity value of $429 million.  He has since brought his breadth of knowledge in the internet retail industry to RepairClinic.com.

RepairClinic.com, with its world headquarters in Canton, Michigan, is a leader in DIY repair and maintenance.  With more than 3,000 videos online, they make fixing things easy.  As a trusted online store, they offer over 3 million replacement parts and maintenance products for over 200 appliances, lawn equipment, power tools, and heating and cooling equipment brands.  RepairClinic.com has helped over 4.5 million people save more than $500 million in repair costs by fixing stuff on their own.

Bud Gibson: Director, EMU Center for Digital Engagement

In January 2015, in collaboration with Chad Wiebesick, Russ Merz, Sheila Sasser, and Matt Sauber, Bud led the establishment of the Center for Digital Engagement at Eastern Michigan University. With the generous support of College of Business Dean Michael Tidwell and Provost Kim Schatzel, the CDE currently sponsors the Search Marketing Workshop and monthly breakfast series.

In Summer 2015, the CDE entered into a multi-year collaboration with the Michigan Economic Development Corporation and Ann Arbor SPARK to launch a Digital Media Clinic targeted at high tech startups. In its first year, the clinic housed 12 EMU interns working with 6 companies in SPARK’s high tech incubator. Plans for 2016 call for 20 interns to work with 10 companies. Additionally, in 2016, the CDE will seek franchise partners to implement the clinic concept in other parts of Michigan.

Dr. Russ Merz: Professor, Eastern Michigan University

Session Moderator: Integrated Digital Strategies - 1

Russ Merz (Ph.D. Michigan State University) is the lead professor for the brand management and communications research courses in the Echo Award winning M.S. in IMC program at EMU. He is also a multiple award winning researcher for published articles in sports marketing, website branding, supply chain management, customer engagement, and the role of social media in online brand development and purchase decisions.

He has participated as a director and board member in the management of several start-up enterprises in the business services sector. At CFI Group he managed a multi-million dollar consulting client portfolio, and directed a team of Ph.D. level analysts to build statistics-based measurement models for Fortune 500 clients. He also led the technological team that developed the Foresee customer satisfaction measurement platform and later served as Foresee’s Research Director and Research Scientist. Most recently Russ has worked with with Seelio, Ketchum and Blab Predicts, where he performed as a senior analyst in the development of predictive modeling applications, and provided analytical advice to upper management in support of global client engagements.

Chad Wiebesick: VP Integrated Marketing, AACVB

Chad Wiebesick serves as the VP of Integrated Marketing and Communications at the Washtenaw County Convention and Visitors Bureau. Prior to this role, he served as Director of Social Media and Interactive Marketing for the State of Michigan's tourism and economic development agency. He is named among the nation's Top 5 Government Social Media Leaders in 2015 and his efforts have led Pure Michigan to become among the world's Top 10 travel destinations on social media. 

His work and contributions have earned industry recognition. He is a recipient of Online Media & Marketing Magazine’s “America’s Top 20 Interactive Media Rising Stars,” and serves as the first-ever Executive in Residence at Eastern Michigan University's Center for Digital Engagement. 

Eric Wortman: Senior Account Manager, Live Events, Google

Session: Integrated Digital Strategies – 1

Eric Wortman is a Senior Account Manager on Google's Live Events team. He helps develop the relationship between professional sports leagues and Google's advertising platforms. Prior to this role Eric managed a team at iProspect on the General Motors account.

An Ann Arbor townie and graduate of Eastern Michigan University, Eric is an active member of the local digital marketing community. If not busy playing soccer he is more than happy to meet for a coffee and chat about marketing or sports.

Rebecca Harris, Ph.D., Senior Manager, Social Center of Expertise, General Motors

Session: Integrated Digital Strategies – 1

Rebecca L. Harris is the Senior Manager of the Global Social Center of Expertise, a role she envisioned and helped to implement in June 2013 where she and her team work to execute common processes, tools, policy and governance for social media across the globe. Throughout her 25+ years with General Motors (GM), her passion for helping customers—both externally and internally—has been a driving force in what she does.

Prior to joining the Global Connected Customer Experience group, Harris led the Corporate Communications Social team and was instrumental in bringing the functional social teams together informally.

While in Communications, Harris worked on various teams with a focus on change management and crisis communications, which required a start-up mentality. She was responsible for bringing together marketing teams from multiple locations, establishing the GM Heritage Center and conducting GM Bankruptcy media relations. Additionally, she served in roles within Internal Communications, Fleet & Commercial, Vehicle Sales and Service Parts Operations.

Harris began her GM career in April of 1990 at Saginaw Steering Systems in Saginaw, Mich., where she worked as a first-line supervisor over both steering gears and assembly. She has a Bachelor of Arts from Saginaw State University, a Master in Science of Administration from Central Michigan University and a Ph. D. from Wayne State University.  She was born and raised in Hemlock, Mich., and is married with two children.
